The image also demonstrates how the abused individual becomes trapped in an ongoing cycle, which becomes a downward spiral into worsening conditions.

Most broken Christians (a term I coined to describe adults who are still suffering from childhood abuse and trauma), unfortunately, are just as trapped as non-Christians. The same inputs, variables, and effectors that form the classic profile of an adult child of trauma also apply to those who become Christians.

Having been a pastor for many years and deeply involved in Christian ministry for most of my life keeps me well informed of the opinion of many Christians, suggesting that once a person becomes a Christian, those past issues no longer affect them – I wish that were true.
